Els Roures de Llimiana are located in the Montsec mountain range, which hosts ones of the most famous climbing routes in Europe. Amateur and professional climbers and mountain rescue teams come all year round to practice both climbing and speleology.

Castillo de Llordà

Landscapes

The region hosts the impressive natural landscapes of Mont-Rebei and Terradets gorges. Surrounded by the lush scenery of the mountains, Cellers lake is also a great reserve for many species of migratory birds. Sant Alís viewpoint, on top of Montsec mountains, allows you to admire the whole Tremp basin and Ager valley.

Bird watching

The local lakes and dams are vast reserves of migratory birds and some of the few places you can watch grey herons.

Gastronomy

Pallars Jussà’s gastronomy rimes with traditional and extraordinary tastes such as the alioli de codony (quince mayonnaise), tupí cheese, the great variety of mushrooms, secallona and xolís (dried sausages), mató (cottage cheese), escudella barrejada (winter broth with meat and vegetables) or stewed chamois.

Museums

Local museums are mainly focused on natural and traditional elements of the region: Regional Museum in Tremp, Raftmen Museum in La Pobla de Segur, and Dinosaurs Museum in Isona.

Cultural activities

Enjoy the celebrations and traditions that have been preserved throughout the centuries, visit the museums of old professions and walk through the medieval paths or the aisles of the local Romanesque churches.

Architecture

Pallars Jussà is rich in medieval buildings such as the castles of Mur, Llordà and Sant Gervàs, witnesses of battle and conquest times. You can also visit Capdella Hydroelectric Power Station, the very first in Spain.

Traditions and local festivals

The most important folkloric event in the region is the “Ball del Contrapàs" (Counter pass Dance), performed in January (Tremp) and August (Palau de Noguera). The “Diada dels Raiers” (Raftmen Day) takes place on the first Sunday of July in memory of the men who would transport trunks down the Noguera Pallaresa on rafts.

Summer is a great opportunity to live the atmosphere of the local festivals celebrated in the towns and villages of the region such as Tremp, Puigcercós, Palau, Talarn, La Pobla de Segur, Salàs del Pallars, Guàrdia de Tremp, Cellers, Llimiana, Isona and Figuerola d'Orcau.
